We have worked extensively with governmental entities and industry associations in drafting federal, state and foreign legislation, rules and regulations, and local ordinances related to natural resources and public utility law. We also participate on several advisory committees to federal and state agencies. Firm attorneys have:

• Chaired the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission
• Testified numerous times to U.S. House and Senate committees on energy and natural resource legislation and policy
• Counseled and represented clients with Interior and U.S. Forest Service issues before members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives
• Provided strategic advice and representation at the Department of the Interior and the US Forest Service on energy and natural resource issues
• Prepared rulemaking comments on behalf of the geothermal industry on the first major geothermal rulemaking in 20 years
• Represented and prepared testimony on behalf of the Colorado oil and gas industry as an expert witness during the COGCC rulemaking
• Served as an appointed member of the National Petroleum Council
• Chaired the Colorado Department of Natural Resources Committee on Surface Damage Litigation
• Served as the vice-chair of the Colorado Water Quality Commission
• Drafted and presented Colorado's Water Rights Determination and Administration Act to the legislature
• Represented the Montana Mining Association in defending against two anti-mining initiative campaigns
• Represented a 527 campaign in Montana's gubernatorial race
