Overview

Nancy works with individuals and families in estate planning, probate, trust administration, guardianships and conservatorships. She helps clients work through the unpredictable contingencies of the death or incapacity of a loved one as well as assisting clients with creating a legacy through their estate plan.

Ms. Peterson assists with the preparation of Last Will and Testaments, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Living Wills, Beneficiary Deeds and any other documents deemed to be necessary to complete a person’s estate plan, including the creation of a Colorado limited liability company. The completion of an estate plan can provide a peace of mind that assets will be distributed according to the decedent’s wishes.

Probate is the legal process of transferring the assets of a deceased person and the Court appointment of a Personal Representative, who will then have the legal authority to handle the decedent’s affairs and distribute the assets to the beneficiaries of the estate. The loss of a loved one can present many questions and present many difficult decisions to be made.

The appointment of a Guardian becomes necessary when a minor or incapacitated adult requires assistance with decisions regarding medical care, medications, education and daily care and activities. The appointment of a Conservator becomes necessary when a minor or incapacitated adult either receives property or requires assistance with the management of property.
