Sarah handles a variety of operational matters for her energy industry clients.  Her practice includes counseling clients on energy project siting issues on private lands, including negotiating with surface owners, drafting conveyance, leasing, and surface use contracts, and handling multiple use conflicts.  In particular, clients rely on Sarah for her specialized expertise in leasing, land use, site development, and permitting on state and federal lands.  Sarah helps clients navigate regulatory hurdles by advising on federal, state, county, and city land use regulation and compliance issues.  Sarah also handles transactional matters for her energy industry clients -negotiating and drafting purchase and sale and exchange agreements, coordinating and conducting due diligence for large scale acquisitions, and settling defect notices.  Sarah also has extensive experience in title examination, drafting hundreds of stand-up and sit-down title opinions covering fee, state, and federal minerals.

Prior to joining WSMT, Sarah practiced for seven years at a boutique oil and gas firm in Denver and served as a law clerk for the Honorable John W. Madden, IV.
